On Sunday 8th March 2026, the congregation of the newly united Kilwinning Parish Church of Scotland gathered for a special Service of Union and Communion at Kilwinning Abbey. The service was led by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev Rosie Frew.
The Moderator was joined by the Moderator of the Presbytery, Mrs Gillian Lynn; the Presbytery Clerk, Mrs Christine Murray; Deacon, Mrs Isobel Beck; and the Interim Moderator, Rev James McNay, for the service which formally marked the beginning of Kilwinning Parish Church of Scotland following the union of Kilwinning Abbey Church and Mansefield Trinity Church on 1 January 2026.
As part of the service, the Rt Rev Rosie Frew also presented Rev James McNay with a gift to mark the occasion.
The service marked an important milestone in the life of the new congregation, symbolising a shared commitment to worship, fellowship, and service. It also signalled the beginning of a new chapter as Kilwinning Parish Church continues its life and witness within the local community and the wider Church of Scotland.
