Mission Committee

The Mission Committee seeks to inspire and encourage the churches in Presbytery in mission local, national and international with particular emphasis on the five marks of mission: TELL others to follow Jesus, TEACH his followers to love him more, TEND for those who are hurting, TREASURE our planet and TRANSFORM injustices.

The Remit of the Mission Committee is:

To assist the Presbytery and the congregations within its bounds to be informed, inspired and supported to develop local, national and world mission.

In particular:
  • to assist congregations in fulfilling the requirements of the Church of Scotland Presbytery Planning Act A2, through a Mission Action Plan template and prompts; Mission Practice tracker tool, Mission toolkit, Mission events and other supports.
  • to act as a link with our Presbytery’s Mission Partners and organise their visits and tours.
  • to provide information, support and financial assistance to congregations for their twinning links.
  • to agree, support and review the work of the Mission Facilitator and the Mission Pioneers (geographic and thematic) to address mission and discipleship priority issues in our Presbytery area.
  • to review, and approve where appropriate, applications from our Presbytery to the Church of Scotland Seeds of Growth Fund.
  • to act as the link for national mission initiatives as required by the General Assembly (currently Crossreach, Guild and Iona Community).
