Committees

Mission Committee

The Mission Committee seeks to inspire and encourage the churches in Presbytery in mission local, national and international with particular emphasis on the five marks of mission: TELL others to follow Jesus, TEACH his followers to love him more, TEND for those who are hurting, TREASURE our planet and TRANSFORM injustices.

The Remit of the Mission Committee is:

To assist the Presbytery and the congregations within its bounds to be properly informed and to take appropriate action upon matters related to the Five Marks of Mission, namely:

  • To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
  • To teach, baptise and nurture new believers.
  • To respond to human need by loving service
  • To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation
  • To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth

To actively encourage the development of an active prayer life within the Presbytery

To develop relationships between the Presbytery and other Christian denominations within the bounds.

To encourage an understanding of the place of Presbytery within the World Church and in particular

  • To act as a link between Faith Impact and the congregations of Presbytery.
  • To bring important issues affecting the World Church to Presbytery's attention.
  • To organise deputation tours of the presbytery's Mission Partners.
  • To act as a link between Christian Aid and the Presbytery
