The Superintendence Committee deals with any complaints relating to the conduct of ministers or elders within the bounds. The committee doesn’t report to the Presbytery due to the confidential nature of its work.
Our Remit
The remit of the Presbyterial Superintendence Committee is to be the point of referral for issues of conflict in congregations and for matters relating to the discipline of ministers, deacons and elders.

David studied Chemistry at the University of Glasgow and Divinity at the University of Edinburgh. He was ordained in Oban in 1988 and served as the Associate Minister in Kilmore and Oban for 8 years. He was Parish Minister in Prestwick: Kingcase for nearly 18 years and was inducted to Largs: Clark Memorial in 2014. In 2023 the united congregation of Cumbrae, Fairlie and Largs was formed and he now works in the new charge with his colleague Rev Dr Graham McWilliams.
He has served as a Church Assessor, assessing candidates for ministry for a number of years and before that on the Hospital and University Chaplaincies committee.
He is married with two daughters and a grandson. Outside church work, he enjoys travelling and gardening. While he was at university, he took part in a student exchange for a semester at the University of Tűbingen in Germany. He still likes to visit Germany and tries to speak in German when the opportunity presents itself.
