Easter Message from our Moderator

As I write this, the sky is blue and the sun shining (although it was raining just an hour ago).  My garden is once again a mass of colour, so many signs of new life.  My hedge has turned from brown to green, pink blossom on the tree, but most of all daffodils resplendent in the Spring sunshine.  Their vibrant colour symbolising new life that we have in Jesus our Risen Lord.

As we move through Holy Week, we are reminded of the events leading up to the crucifixion of our Lord on Good Friday.  By Saturday the disciples were lying low, hiding, their faith in tatters.  Sunday changed all of that – Jesus, the teacher, the miracle worker who changed lives, the hero who gave his life for others was raised from the dead and now lives and reigns in triumph to the end of time!

For Christians, the truth of the Resurrection is what encourages, excites and urges us into action and outreach, fellowship and love, care and compassion.  Our Christian faith centres round Easter.  We must proclaim the Easter message knowing that Jesus is with us at all times.  A message of hope, love, peace, renewal and healing commending to God all who are facing difficult times in such a fractured world.

I wish you all a very happy, joyful and peaceful Easter (and don’t eat too many Easter eggs!)
