About The Border Kirk
We welcome you to The Border Kirk, Church of Scotland just across the border in Carlisle for nearly 200 years. Although located in "Englandshire", we maintain our strong and proud Church of Scotland heritage and membership in the Presbytery of the South West as most of our members are relocated Scots. We are also an international congregation and every Sunday's worship is printed in its entirety into Persian and Ukrainian. All are welcome to share in our mission and ministry as we worship and serve Jesus Christ and live out the gospel in our greater community!
We gather for worship every Sunday at 11am on Chapel Street in the city centre. On the fifth Sunday of a month, our Worship Group plans and leads worship in a more casual and often cafe style. We also share in worship with the Methodists at Longtown Community Church where our minister leads worship on the first Sunday of each month at 9.30am.
We observe Holy Communion on Palm Sunday (Easter), Pentecost Sunday, Harvest/Heritage/Homecoming Sunday (first Sunday in October), and the Sunday prior to Christmas (Christmas).
