About Hoddom, Kirtle-Eaglesfield & Middlebie

Hoddom, Kirtle-Eaglesfield & Middlebie Church (HKEM) serves the villages and outlying areas of Eaglesfield, Ecclefechan, Kirtlebridge and Middlebie. We hold regular services every Sunday, with the first and third being at Middlebie Church, the second and fourth Sundays at Eaglesfield Church, and whenever there is a fifth Sunday we decamp and hold the service in Ecclefechan Village Hall. Additional services such as Songs of Praise, Carols etc are held throughout the year, these normally conclude with a shared supper.

Our two buildings are totally different in character, Middlebie is a traditional sandstone building with pews and a pulpit while Eaglesfield Church and Meeting Room are more modern with comfortable seating and a lectern. The Meeting Room was added in the early 1990's and incorporated into the church around 2015. All our buildings were refurbished and modernised in 2017 & 2018. Facilities at Eaglesfield are available for individuals, groups and businesses to use for a small hourly rate.

Socially, every Monday, we hold a coffee and chat gathering where anybody can drop in for a 'blether' and a warm drink in a safe and welcoming environment. Throughout the year we hold a programme of social and fundraising events which are widely advertised and where members of the local communities are invited in to. Over the last 12 months we have become more active in the local schools and this is an area our Minister is keen to build on.

We support local charities such as Annan Foodbank at Kate's Kitchen with weekly donations of produce and occasionally monies from retiring collections after a special service. We also periodically donate money to international charities, such as Farm Africa, again following a retiring collection.
